My names is Sandy Steiger. I live in Bath, Ohio. I have been decorating eggs since I first learned how to make a duck egg jewelry box, that Mary Lou Crawford taught me. That was almost 53 years ago! Her husband grew up with my dad and Lou sent an egg over to my mom and I asked her husband if I could come over and learn how to do the eggs. So I stayed over Thanksgiving weekend and made my first egg. So on and off I have been decorating and designing eggs. My favorites are beaded eggs, and making something different each Christmas for my kids. Those have been my best eggs. I love thinking of something that would be special for them. I belong to the Ohio Egg Art Guild. We have a show every spring. Next year will be the 50th anniversary of the first show. I have made so many friends doing eggs. And most of them do a different form of egg art. I like to learn all the different ways to decorate the eggs. To me it’s so relaxing, I can’t start an egg and let it sit not finished. I have to work till it’s done. And they never turn out the way I plan, because I change this and that, so it’s always a surprise when it’s done.
